Be honest, don't mince the words, don't verbs the listener and give their imagination time to see in, speak it with compassion and show your emotion of the news, next stop talking and listen to what they involve to say.

Just be compassionate. The word has to be told, and it's not your mistake. A physical touch on the arm or shoulder is usually welcomed and help. Don't be in a hurry o run out afterwards. Mention any counselling or cleric support available.

Take it in steps...hello I'm X...I stipulation to have a chat something like X...It isn't good report...I'm afraid I have to recount you X. This way the reception party aren't hit next to the facts straight away but gradually lead into it. Most people know already that it is discouraging news because of the situation but you can't waffle around the issue anyway...so 4 steps as above usually does the trick for me.
You must nouns firm and in control and matter-of-fact. Be honest and show sympathy. Allow the other race their feelings, even if it's anger. Be near, ready to arrive at out if they need you, but don't do it unless they give the impression of being to need it, as a mere touch can start the tears flowing if administered at the wrong moment.
Be within command of the situation, have adjectives the facts and answer whatever they ask beside careful, thought out answers.
